Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers support the library's mission by working as partners to extend and enhance the range of services that are provided to the public. Library volunteers range in age from 14-85 and are as diverse in culture and language as the service population. They believe passionately in the work of the library and annually give over 15,500 hours of their time. The current volunteer base includes approximately 375 individuals.
For the Circulation Division, they shelve books, pull items to be held for patrons, and check in returned items. For the Technical Services Division, they affix labels and repair tapes, books, and DVDs. Volunteers monitor an online book sale that nets several thousands of dollars monthly, which in turn are used to purchase new books and equipment for the library. Youth Services volunteers are critical to the library's Summer Reading Program, registering children and giving prizes for reading. Reference volunteers help with Oregon Documents and the processing of inter-library loans. Other volunteers work on activities such as book sales, Back-to-School nights, and the volunteer newsletter.
Volunteers are an indispensable resource in the success of our library program. Learn how you can join our team of volunteers: http://www.ci.hillsboro.or.us/Library/volunteers.aspx
